45-FUL Mamariga

Explanation

Bilbao is one of the largest cities in northern Spain with a population of about 1 million. The population of Santurtzi is around 50 thousand and is the coastal area at the end of the Bilbao subway network. The new funicular connects the urban areas to the metro. Metro is a very common means of transportation. It is used by approximately 275 thousand passengers per day. This is so indispensable that the number of voyages according to the actual number of passengers is rapidly adaptable. The same applies to the new funicular.

Train services are provided on fixed routes. However, it is automatically detected that the cabinets reach 80 percent fullness. In this case, the next voyage is given a shorter interval.

The funicular goes underground. There are two parallel independent lines for maximum availability. The drivers of both cabins are independent of each other. The automatic rail lubrication system reduces both noise and vibration. Thanks to single-carriage, it enables to save weight and engine power.
