110-FUL Höhenweg – Weissfluhjoch

Explanation

The two-part Parsenn funicular from the village of Davos to Weissfluhjoch were opened in the early 1930s. The first part of Höhenweg’s intensive modernization was realized in 200 years and the second part was upgraded in 2010. The new funicular is two-lined and has many bends. One-third of the line crosses over the snow tunnels and bridges. Snow tunnels were built to make snow clean. The line infrastructure has been improved, the upper structure has been changed and the size has been increased from 80 cm to 100 cm. Line alignment is maintained. Each of the two cabins can carry 110 passengers. The speed has risen from 6.2 meters to 9 meters at the moment.

The Funicular serves five mountain restaurants and  the Snow and Avalanche Research Institute. Thanks to the new central station, the load carrying speed between the first and second sections increases considerably.

Once the cargo has already been transferred from the first part of a carrier to the second part of the other carrier with three cranes, these activities can now be carried out with a single crane.
