Passenger elevators are designed in accord with the traffic calculations and concept projects made at project design stage of the buildings.
Construction activities in Turkey evolve depending on the changing life style and developing needs. Thus, high rise buildings are constructed. Passenger elevators give service to people with their technology and equipment and high-speed units which can meet the said needs.
Passenger elevators are designed according to international safety and comfort standards, and built in line with their projects.
Passenger elevators may have the carrying capacity of 240kg, 320 kg, 400 kg, 630 kg, 800kg, 1000kg, 1250 kg and 1600 kg.
Passenger elevators in houses and non-residential buildings are classified as Class I and Class II, respectively.
Divided into Electric and Hydraulic based on the drive mode, passenger elevators have been designed and built in recent years especially by using synchronous motor and canceling machine room.
Today, the growing number of modern buildings and aesthetic architectural designs affect the design of elevators as well. Panoramic elevators perfectly adjusted to modern architectural designs are preferred due to their aesthetic view and technical competence.
Panoramic elevators are mostly preferred in shopping centers, plazas, public buildings, restaurants, hotels and entertainment light intensity centers.
The most distinct feature of panoramic elevators is all-glass passenger cabin. Thus, the users can see the atmosphere they are in as they are going up or down in the elevator. Carrying capacity and speed of the panoramic elevators can vary from 4 to 21 people and from 0.63 m/sec to 2,5 m/sec, respectively.
Stretcher elevators are designed to carry the patients on the stretcher comfortably.
The details to be considered in line with the intended purpose are cabin lighting, level of light intensity which will not disturb the patient and an antibacterial environment which meet the hygienic conditions.
A privileged feature of the stretcher elevators is the comfort of patient, namely to carry the patient in a healthy, safe and hygienic environment. To prevent shaking of the stretcher during entrance and exit, the cabin is precisely adjusted to floors. Such elevators are equipped by additional features such as the countermeasures for power cut, adjusted luminous flux, antibacterial measures and stainless accessories.
Two types of stretcher elevators can be designed: hydraulic-powered stretcher elevators and electric-driven stretcher elevators.
Freight elevators are produced to carry loads. Comfort and speed are not priority for these elevators compared to passenger elevators. They are designed based on the carrying capacity requested by the locations with intensive freightage works such as storehouses, shopping centers and plants. They can be designed and applied as hydraulic-powered and electric-driven. Hydraulic-powered freight elevator is preferred when navigation distance is not excessive and carrying capacity is not very high. High-capacity freight elevators are designed to operate at low-speed.
Vehicle elevators are designed to carry vehicles as well as freights. Unlike freight elevators, several details of vehicle elevators should be considered. Dimensions of the cabin should allow for carrying the vehicles desired.
Louvered doors or sectional doors can be used in vehicle elevators. Both elevator and doors can be controlled with remote control. This feature provides ease and comfort of use. Similar to above elevator types, vehicle elevators can be designed as hydraulic-powered and electric-driven.
Disabled elevators are designed to raise the life standards of disabled people. Comfort of use is aimed for disabled people as the standard elevator types are designed today. Apart from this, there are systems specifically designed according to locations of the stairs in houses, offices or villas.
Chair type and platform type are two main categories of the disabled elevator.
Chair type elevator: It can designed according to straight stairs or winding stairs. This type of elevator which may have single or double rail(s) is easily used with comfort.
Platform type elevator: This model is suitable for wheelchair users and can be applied to all kinds of stairs. Platform elevator with concealed scissors is another type of this group. It can be used in three or four-step stairs.
Dumbwaiters have a small cabin designed to carry only freight, not people. Their carrying capacity change between 50 kg and 300 kg. Such elevators are light, modular, self-supporting and compact equipment which do not require machine room.
This product known as food elevator, platter elevator or service elevator as well is generally used to carry the dishes, glasses, trays etc. from kitchen to dining floor in hotels, restaurants and villas.
Elevators without Machine Room;
Such systems can be used in high-rise and low-rise residences and commercial buildings.
In general, the elevator is preferred if the building has no or unsuitable machine room.
This type of elevator is one of the most-preferred one in parallel with the popularization of gearless (synchronous) motor.
Nowadays, it is primarily chosen by the architects due to providing numerous architectural and aesthetical advantages.
Efficient gearless (synchronous) motors are used in the elevators without machine room.
Additionally, its silent operation and its feature of comfortable navigation at high speed make this elevator type more preferable.
Elevators with Machine Room;
Drive machine of this type of elevator is kept in a room built on the elevator pit.
Elevators with machine room require a machine room which rises as a tower above the pit, so they are disadvantageous from architectural and aesthetical aspects.
Geared (asynchronous) machinery and motors are generally used in the elevators with machine room. Gearless motor is scarcely preferred.
Advantages of the elevators without machine room are as follows;
Machine room is not needed, so they bring an aesthetic view to architecture.
They provide energy saving of up to 40 percent, compared to traditional motors.
The absence of gear box in motor of the machine makes them much more long-lasting.
No oil is used in the system, so the risk of environmental pollution is zero.
Thanks to their superior control techniques, they have a matchless sensibility of control.
Hydraulic elevators are appropriate for the places with mild traffic in which it is unlikely to build a machine room over the pit.
They are applied to freight elevators as well as passenger elevators. “When it is not desired for building skeleton to bear the static and dynamic loads because of the situation of the architectural structure, hydraulic elevators which send these loads to base are preferred.
The elevators without machine room offer easy solutions if an existing building has no place for the elevator or construction of the elevator is impossible.
The systems are fully-automatic passenger transport systems, operated by the passengers. No expensive personnel is required fort he operation. Handling is very easy and convenient. It Works like a modern elevator. The inclined lifts corresponds to the rules of the European Parliament and Council Directive 2014/33/EU of February 26,2014 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to lifts.
Inclined lifts are exposed to the weather especially strongly. Generally the systems work reliably and secure- independent of wind and weather. As a result, a very high availability of the elevators will be achieved, costs for service and maintenance are minimized.
